DSEI 2015: British Army outlines ‘whole force’ approach

Senior British Army officials used DSEI 2015 as a platform to expound on their ‘whole force’ concept that involves a much closer engagement with industry to achieve what the army needs to deliver. Noting that the aim is to “work smarter and get more innovation into the army”, Brigadier Mitch Mitchell, head of Capability, Combat Service Support, Army Headquarters, told an audience at DSEI on 15 September that the army’s chief of general staff (CGS) “wants less talk and more ‘whole force’ walk more quickly” and that “engaging with industry is one of the CGS’s highest priorities”. Brig Mitchell said the approach was “not just about efficiency; it’s about new, it’s about better”.
