Imjin Hockey 2015 | Richard Lawrence Photography

On Saturday a hockey game, hosted by the Korean Embassy and played in the Canadian Tire Centre, pitted the Princess Patricia s Canadian Light Infantry (PPCLI) against the Royal 22e Regiment (Vandoos) in a commemoration of hockey games played by Canadian troops on the frozen Imjin River in Korea during the Korean War. It also celebrated the special friendship that now exists between the Republic of Korea and Canada. Of special note this year were the attendance of three Korean veterans who played in the original Imjin Hockey game in 1951: Dennis Moore, Claude Chartrand and I didn t get the name of the third.

The match was contested over two periods with the the Royal 22e Regiment emerging victorious, 9 to 3.
