A soldier managed to escape an abduction attempt outside his base this morning in chillingly similar circumstances to events at RAF Marham two weeks ago. Police are investigating the incident, allegedly involving two men in a blue Renault Clio, which happened at around 8.15am next to the garrison in Aldershot, Hampshire. Soldiers at the Army base were today being warned not to wear their uniforms to work or in the town as officers attempt to prevent any future attempted attacks.

Security has been stepped up at the garrison, with the number of guards by the gates increasing. It follows the attempted abduction at RAF Marham in Norfolk where police continue to hunt for two attackers who tried to drag their victim into a car on July 20. On that occasion, the RAF victim was able to headbutt one of the attackers before fleeing, despite a knife being brandished during the struggle.

It is understood the soldier today is safe and well.
